The Upper Savinja Valley is famous for its breathtaking views of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps and natural parks, which is why it’s not uncommon for visitors to opt for cycling holidays that allow them to explore the valley more directly, along both easier and more challenging cycling routes. The valley has a well-developed network of cycling paths, designed for mountain bikers, road cyclists, and families alike.
We’ve selected some of the most popular routes near Camp Menina, which are also suitable for families. We recommend choosing a guide from Camp Menina for a truly comprehensive experience. They know the area and routes well and will ensure that your cycling adventures are both authentic and safe.

FAMILY CYCLING TO BOČNA VILLAGE
Cycling from Camping Menina to Bočna is a pleasant and easy family cycling experience. The route mostly runs on asphalted side roads, which are less congested. So after the start in Camp Menina, we turn into the village of Šentjanž and through the village all the way to Grušovlje, where we turn left – in the direction of Homec, where the first slightly longer climb awaits us, leading to Podhom and to Bočna.
The route is 14 km in both directions, and the ride time for families is approximately 1.5 hours. The route is easy, well-marked, and offers beautiful views of the countryside.
FAMILY CYCLING ALONG THE RIVER SAVINJA

Another popular family cycling route is along the Savinja River. The route starts at the Menina campsite and continues along the Savinja River to the gorge in Mozirje. Along the route, we get to know the banks of the Savinja River and the villages that lie directly by the river, while admiring numerous natural springs, where we can refresh ourselves with pure, fresh spring water. If you choose a guided tour, our licensed guide will also take you to the best ice cream in the valley.
The round trip is 25km and the journey time is 2-3 hours. The route is easy.
FAMILY CYCLING ROUTE TO THE FLOSSING VALLEY OF LJUBNO OB SAVINJI

Another popular family route is the path to Ljubno. Ljubno is a town known for its rafting tradition and the rafting museum, which you can visit before returning to the camp. The route begins at the camp and continues through the village of Šentjanž to Grušovlje, where you turn left, cross the bridge, and head towards Homec. However, at the first intersection in Homec, you turn right, heading towards Meliše. The route through Meliše is forested for the first half, and then it becomes paved again. Once you leave the village of Meliše, turn right onto the main road and continue for about 2 km to the village of Radmirje. After a descent, you’ll rejoin the gravel road that leads you to Ljubno.
The round trip is about 15 km and the journey time is about 1.5 hours. The route is easy.
